What's included in a major service
A major service is a thorough, systematic service of your air conditioner — far more than a quick filter clean. A technician works through a structured checklist covering the indoor unit, outdoor unit, the electrical system and the refrigeration circuit, recording the key readings as they go. The same process applies across all unit types — midwall splits, ceiling cassettes, under-ceiling, ducted / hideaway and packaged units.
Indoor unit
- ✓Clean or replace the air filters
- ✓Clean the indoor coil to restore airflow, cooling and air quality
- ✓Clean the indoor fan and check the fan blades for damage or imbalance
- ✓Clean the unit cabinet and housing
- ✓Check, clean and flush the condensate drains (and test the drain pump where fitted)
Outdoor unit
- ✓Clean the outdoor coil
- ✓Check the indoor and outdoor fan motors
- ✓Check the fan blades for damage or imbalance
- ✓Inspect the compressor and its mounting springs
- ✓Check the refrigerant piping for oil spots that can indicate a leak
Electrical & controls
- ✓Check and tighten all electrical connections
- ✓Test the capacitor against its rated value
Refrigeration & performance
- ✓Check the refrigerant pressures
- ✓Check the running current
- ✓Measure the on-coil and off-coil temperatures (indoor and outdoor)
- ✓Check cooling operation
- ✓Check heating operation, where applicable
Refrigerant: a gas-pressure check is part of every major service. Refrigerant is not a consumable — if your unit is low it usually points to a leak, so any regas or repair is investigated and quoted separately, and we always confirm with you before any extra work.
Your technician records the readings taken during the service so the condition of your unit can be tracked over time.
COVID-19 disinfection option: adds an antimicrobial sanitising treatment of the unit (the SMACOV option on the midwall service above).
